How to get return flights to Europe for £1

What can you do with £1? Actually quite a lot. This is one of my favourites, here’s how to get return flights to Europe for £1.  A definite Spend Smarter, Travel Smarter deal.

£1 seems to have lost its value, it’s only a pound. We tip our Uber Eats driver more than £1, parking in town costs more than a pound and £1 won’t even buy you a coffee in most places. Or a packet of Jaffa cakes unless they are on special offer! So I am kicking off this new series sharing what you can do with £1 with a return flight to Europe.

How do I get these flights? 

British Airways offer members of their Executive Club Reward flights to Europe. These flights used to be just £35 return in Economy or £50 return in Club Europe. Off peak the Economy flights need 7,500 Air Miles each way. Now though they have added an option to pay less money and more miles, you can choose how much you pay. You can get these flights for £1 return. The Avios needed depends on dates and location. I’ve looked at a few dates and destinations in Europe to give you an idea, there is plenty of availability.

Return to Barcelona in August £1 plus 21,000 Avios  or £34 plus 13,000 avios

Return to Berlin in August £1 plus 15,000 Avios or £31 plus 8,500 Avios

Return to Larnaca in August £1 plus 27,000 Avios or £35 plus 20,000 Avios

You can collect Air Miles in so many ways, it’s easy to amass over 20k in a couple of months, and it doesn’t cost you anything. It’s like Nectar or Clubcard points. You can create a household account where your points are shared. You can collect them with no goal in mind and then boom you can go off to Europe for £1.

Usually we’d pay the £30 ish and use less miles but that’s because we are always saving towards the next big trip like San Francisco or Tokyo.

On this site  we share and introduce people to the amazing world of Air Miles. Bear in mind as well that if you need to change or cancel these flights then you lose the £1. Yep just the £1. And you get your Air Miles refunded!

And the British Airways flight experience is miles better than the budget Airlines. It’s one of the things British Airways still do well. Though they should bring back free food on their Ecomomy flights, see if you agree.
