Where are our favourite places?

We are in our 50s with grown up kids, we have visited many fabulous Countries and enjoyed lots of different types of holidays from City Breaks to All Inclusive resorts in the sun.

Discovering new experiences is what defines a wonderful holiday for us. We travel to enrich our lives.

There are so many places in the world to go. These are places that have stolen our hearts and every trip there is a special mix of familiar and new – there is so much to experience.

Cyprus

Taz is Greek Cypriot, his childhood summers were spent in Cyprus. His parents live out there so we go over at least twice a year. Often with all the kids in the summer.

Cyprus is stunning, a perfect holiday destination for any time of the year. July and August are hot hot hot with some of the most beautiful beaches in Europe to enjoy. In Winter you can ski in the Troodos Mountains.

The miles and miles of Coastline where you can find hidden coves which you’ll have to yourselves.

Whether you want an all inclusive stay in a bustling resort or a peaceful apartment with a sea view, we will help you find the perfect holiday.

New York

My first trip to New York was in 1991, a group of us went to see Depeche Mode at Madison Square Gardens. We flew with Air India and our flights were £138 return. We slept with the lights on cos a cockroach greeted us in the bathroom on the first night in our cheap hotel. On a tight budget, we spent the days walking round the City, marvelling at the buildings, eating like locals and picnicking in Central Park watching the world go by. It was a mind blowing trip that started my love affair with New York.

These days we fly business or first class and the hotels are chosen carefully to be exactly where and what we want. Have a look at our Travel Smarter section to see how we get excellent deals and value.

Since then we have been back countless times, in the height of summer, in beautiful spring, to see the Christmas lights and tree at the Rockefeller and have even been caught in a blizzard that shut the city down for 24 hours.

Taz and I won a trip to New York in a Competition and we got married in City Hall while we were out there. What a trip.

Las Vegas

When I was a kid I had a viewfinder, you put in a disc and you could see 3D pictures. I had one of the Grand Canyon and it blew my mind. Since then my goal was to get to see the Grand Canyon in real life. So we booked Las Vegas. Taz is not a great flier so we booked the Helicopter trip to The Grand Canyon for our 2nd day. We actually got into the helicopter, and out again. Long story short – It was not for us, we decided we’d hire a Mustang and drive there instead later in the trip.

We didn’t actually get to The Grand canyon that trip because we discovered how fabulous Las Vegas was and ran out of time. Four trips later and we’re still not done.

We are not into drinking, gambling and pool parties so Las Vegas surprised us in many ways and it doesn’t have to be expensive at all. We take $500 and that covers everything. There are so many ways to get discounts, freebies, deals and offers.

There is so much to see and do in Las Vegas, and different times of the year gives you different options.

England

For many years we all lived in a tiny flat so spent many weekends away – we’d find a deal and off we’d go. Exploring England. We really are lucky to live in the most fantastic country – one weekend we’d be walking (climbing) in the Lake District, the next one we’d be standing on Nelsons ship, finding out how the cannons worked and what a toe rag was!

From holidays on the coast, with days spent on the beach with frizbees and candy floss to holidays at Center Parcs with the Sub Tropical Swimming Paradise and barbeques on the patio. There are plenty of ways to Maximise Joy and Maximise value. Making wonderful memories with every holiday.

Worldwide

We love our long haul Luxury for Less. There’s nothing like starting an overseas trip with Fast Track through security and an Airport Lounge, then turning left in the plane to be greeted with a smile and a welcome drink.

There is also nothing like bagging a ridiculously cheap flight to somewhere new, setting a really low budget and planning an impromptu break. You can make a flight to somewhere in Europe for £9.99 awesome. We’ll show you how.

The photo above is the view from our balcony at the Hotel in Alicante. A cheap flight got us there one December and we got a complimentary upgrade to a sea view suite. We share what the hotel like and how we got the upgrade.

How about a January trip to Stockholm? Imagine being in a heated rooftop pool looking out over the city when it’s minus 12 degrees. (Felt colder to be honest)
